The Department of Information Technology (DIT) serves as the Technology Center for the State of NC. Services thatDITprovides reach a client base of state and local government agencies, as well as schools, colleges and universities. This is a tier 2 position within the DIT Network Security Services group with a primary focus on operational support for all enterprise security
infrastructure and systems. Network Security infrastructure includes firewalls, SSL and VPN termination points, intrusion prevention systems, and switchingrouting systems.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Diagnose and resolve network problems and improve network performance and reliability.
  • Support and troubleshoot existing network infrastructure, Cisco routers, Nexus switches, IPS, ASA firewalls, and F5 load balancers.
  • Participate in Incident Response activities
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Experience with Cisco ASA firewalls, switches, and routers.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, to respond to shifting priorities, and to work efficiently under the pressure of critical problems and deadlines.
  • ***The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:***
  • Experience with FirePower IPS.
  • Experience with F5 LTM
  • Experience with routing protocols, OSPF and BGP.
  • Experience in one or more of the following languages: Ansible, Python, JavaScript.
  • Sound knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Electronics, or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two and a half years of progressive experience in telecommunications network management, analysis, or design, or traffic engineering; or

    Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three and a half years of networking related experience such as network design, analysis or network management; or

    Associate's degree in Electronics or Networking Technology from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of networking related experience; or

    An equivalent combination of education and experience.
