    NPD & R&D .

    Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology is a business area within the Sandvik Group and a leading global supplier of equipment, tools, service, and technical solutions for the mining industry. The product offering covers rock drilling, rock cutting, rock crushing, loading and hauling and materials handling.

    Key performance areas:

    As the Sourcing Specialist, your primary objective will be to work with Sourcing, Engineering and the local production unit to ensure optimal sourcing support for the parts and equipment needed at the Alachua, FL facility. You will be expected to meet objectives and comply with policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements per Sandvik Alachua Integrated Management System. This will require demonstrating respect and commitment to the IMS System (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 & OHSAS 1800:2007) and taking accountability for its effectiveness and continual improvement.

    Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement key initiatives to support the category strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate and participate in cross functional reviews for specific projects or suppliers within the production unit
  • Maintain the production units category portfolio
  • Prepare sourcing analysis and drives negotiation for given suppliers
  • Develop and implement key projects under the supervision of the Sourcing Manager and R&D Manager to achieve strategic initiatives
  • Ensure that the production units business needs are well addressed by working with the Sandvik Sourcing, Engineering and Quality teams
  • Follow supply market development and trends
  • Drive supply base rationalization and consolidation
  • Work closely with R&D team during design stage in supplier selection process.
  • Select innovative products to give Sandvik a competitive advantage, longer product life cycles, and increased production and aftermarket sales
  • Provide Engineering with design and development support to ensure Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles are followed
  • Identify parts which should be branded and negotiate terms with the supplier
  • Work with Project Management to ensure the specified scope, budget, and Time-to-Market (TTM) objectives are upheld
  • Responsible for budgeted material costs and actual material costs of projects
  • Review Engineering Change Notifications and filter to the specific Commodity Manager, if approved
  • Maintain NPD product cost structure.
  • Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking across the market and between other Sandvik product areas and business units
  • Develops and implements key initiatives to support the category strategic objectives.
  • Your Profile:

    You possess a Bachelors degree, preferably in a technical or business field, along with a minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience, including previous Sourcing and Purchasing experience, with the ability to read, interpret and apply engineered drawings and product specifications. You have knowledge of ERP or MRP and their applications, and are familiar with production costing, inventory control, and supply chain optimization strategies. Your experience with surface drilling mining equipment manufacturing processes and experience with Sourcing/Purchasing products such as electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, engines, sheet metal enclosures, steel fabrications, weldments, fire suppression, diesel engines is a plus. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and fluency in English and Spanish is preferred. You also possess availability for domestic and international travel.
