In this position, candidate will be joining our energetic NPI team in manufacturing test engineering. Prospective candidates for this position will have the opportunity to work very closely with R&D engineers, manufacturing operations and production floor in bringing new products to life that makes electrical power safer, reliable and economical across the world. You will be expected to develop robust test solutions in short-cycle design environments, leveraging existing technologies, promoting standardization, reliability and process efficiency. Candidates must also be comfortable with DFx principles, Quality and Six Sigma metrics.

NPI/Hardware Test Engineer - Manufacturing Responsibilities: Research, specify, design and implement automated test solutions for New Product Introduction (NPI) in a manufacturing environment.
Drive use of standard test hardware and software platforms.
Own multiple Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for new and existing products.
Coordinate with R&D new products development groups to develop manufacturing test strategies for new products.
Determine Design for Test (DFT) specifications, Built-In Self Test (BIST) features and collaborate with R&D engineers in development of test requirements specifications (TRS) with strong emphasis on standardization across multiple product lines.
Use project management tools to create project milestones and project progress reports.
Communicate project progress to R&D project teams and upper management in manufacturing.
Contribute to schematic and printed circuit board layout reviews to ensure adequate test coverage.
Create, review and approve test plans, test scripts, test fixtures, test station designs, and validation documents.
Work with design engineering and assist in transition of design prototypes into cost efficient and high volume products.
Perform test coverage analysis for new products to eliminate gaps in production tests across various manufacturing test areas.
Provide technical support to production floor for manufacturing test related issues.
Analyze and recommend corrective actions for quality issues related to manufacturing tests.
Train production operators in function and maintenance of test infrastructure and test processes.
Mentor associate test engineers and technicians on test plans, processes and procedures.
Continuously identify, measure, and improve test processes.
Deliver highest quality work on schedule.

B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent
Two years experience in design and development of automated test solutions for electronic products
Technical expertise in using and understanding schematics and hardware analysis software
Understand operation of conventional analog and digital circuits
Excellent leadership, teamwork and communication skills
Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Negative drug test result(s)
Two to five years experience in design and development of automated tests for electronic products
Two years experience in project planning and scheduling
Experience in board level testing, high-potential ( Hipot ), Environmental Stress Screening (ESS),
Automated Vision Systems (AVS), and full functional testing of electronic products.
Experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE) such as: ICT, flying probe, fixtures, Omicron, power supplies, digital mutimeters, oscilloscopes, communication analyzers, etc.
Experience in testing telecommunication products such as Ethernet switches, Ethernet Security
Gateway, wireless and radio communication products, and SONET multiplexers.
Experience in testing serial interfaces and protocols such as: GPIB, RS232, RS485, RS422, and serial fiber optic ports.
Experience in testing Ethernet, USB, audio and video interfaces.
Test environment programming experience (Labview, TestStand or similar)
Analytic / statistical tool experience (MATLAB or similar)
PCB design / layout experience
In-circuit programming experience of CPLDs / FPGAs / Flash using JTAG and other methods
Foundational knowledge of computer programming / scripting techniques (C / C++ / C# / XML / PERL/ PYTHON or similar)
Experience in testing automation products
Experience in testing control products
Experience in testing radio products
Experience in testing digital protective relays.
Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills
Proven supervisory or team leadership experience
ISO 9001 quality standards experience
Knowledge of SEL products
