Brief Posting Description Tri-State is an electric utility. We have an Electrical Engineering Intern vacancy available for the 2019 summer in our System Metering area. Students who have successfully completed two (2) to three (3) years of undergraduate study towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or equivalent programs including, Power Systems, Control Systems, or Telecommunications Systems, from an accredited engineering program are encouraged to apply. Job Requirements Responsibilities:This summer intern position offers an engineering student hands on opportunities to work in and learn various aspects of power utility transmission engineering and operations related to system metering.Specific projects and expected outcomes:The intern will work with engineers and specialists on implementing and documenting metering and SCADA (Supervisor Control and Data Acquisition) system projects, which will include:Metering systems documentation throughout the internship periodMetering network diagramsGIS Meter Viewer database updateAssist Senior Engineers on distributed generation metering projectsCascade system database updates for meter and SCADA devicesExpected Outcomes: Gain a basic understanding of working in a system metering function in an electric utility organization.JOB REQUIREMENTS:Knowledge, Skills and Ability:Effective oral and written communication skills are desired of the applicants as well as organizational skills.Strong computer skills, including experience with the Microsoft Office suite.Desired Qualifications:Experience with ESRI GIS Metering View, SharePoint, and Meridian SoftwareAutoCAD knowledge and/or experienceINTERNSHIP WORK HOURS, WORK SCHEDULE AND LOCATION:The duration of this summer position will be from about the end of May until the end of August (flexible depending on the student's start/end of semester).
