Control Systems Engineer - Remote

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is a position for a well-rounded, self-motivated, hands-on, problem solving individual. The position will require broad duties and will provide an excellent opportunity for career development. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical systems, electrical systems, instrumentation and controls.

This is a skilled technical position working in both a field and office environment. This position requires some self-directed work, along with performing tasks as directed by supervisors. Basic work functions will consist of 1) Controls & Electrical Design and 2) Field Support.

1. Controls Engineering

Support installation and retrofits of Activated Carbon Injection Systems (ACI), Dry Sorbent

Injection Systems (DSI), Flue Gas Conditioning Systems (FGC), and other emission control systems located at heavy industrial sites

Develop, test, and/or troubleshoot logic for SCADA and DCS

Program, test, and/or troubleshoot logic for PLCs and HMIs

Review product/system design for compliance with engineering principles, Company standards, customer contract requirements, and any other related specifications.

Support the bidding process by reviewing customer specifications, providing preliminary pricing, and coordination to create competitive bid packages.

Generate project specific documents which include, but are not limited to the follow:

- Equipment, Instrument, and Valve Lists

- I/O lists

- Control System / Functional Description

- Logic Diagrams (LD)

- Network Diagrams

Create detailed design documents in AutoCAD 2-D/ AutoCAD Electrical per Customer specifications which include, but are not limited to the follow:

- Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)

- Electrical Schematics (ES)

- Wiring Diagrams (WD)

Ability to interpret and communicate a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form using standard engineering concepts

Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed within the Company

2. Field Support

Perform electrical checkout and inspections, to included point-to-point checks and factory authorized testing (FAT)

Provide on-site support during installation, commissioning and operations by field verifying the proper operation of all electrical equipment, components, instrumentation, and controls

Conduct site-specific Sorbent Injection System Evaluations (SISE)

Create and issue post-inspection report(s) which outline the results of the inspection as well as corrective actions and recommended spare parts.

Plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of temporary equipment during on-site field tests.

Conduct onsite Proof-of-Concept demonstrations by installing and running all required temporary equipment.

Ship, receive, and maintain all temporary equipment, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor?s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university, or 10-15 years of applicable experience

Strong Working knowledge of Rockwell Automation RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000, Schneider

(Modicon) Modbus, and Emerson Ovation Distributed Control Systems

Ability to read, understand and interpret engineered drawings and specifications

Strong fundamental knowledge of Industrial controls and electrical systems

Working knowledge of ISA symbiology, as required for P&IDs and electrical schematics / wiring diagrams.

Ability to analyze data and technical problems, evaluate, and identify the optimum solution

Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work

Ability to function in a highly decentralized team environment

Ability to understand and handle customer expectation

Aware of own competency level, knows when to seek help from others

Able to communicate data/results clearly and concisely

Ability to solve practical problems when confronted by new or non-standard situations

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Proficient in AutoCAD 2-D / AutoCAD Electrical

Proficient in MS Office products

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 5 years? experience in an Engineering role to include ?hands on? PLC programming and field services

Experience in writing/developing/programming PLCs, HMIs & Controls Design
